Associate Professor Stuart Piggin (Director)

BA, DipEd, PhD, AKC, BD, DLItt

Stuart Piggin is Director of CTE. He is a graduate of the universities of Sydney and London and of the Melbourne College of Divinity. He lectured in Religious History in the Universities of Wollongong and Sydney from 1974 to 1990. He was Master of Robert Menzies College, Macquarie University, from 1990 to 2004. He has written over 100 articles for academic journals and seven books.

Interests: the nature of spiritual experience and of religious revival, the history of religious movements, and the human impact of natural and man-made disasters.

Professor Robert Banks

In addition to serving as a staff member of CTE, Robert Banks is a Visiting Professor, Department of Ancient History, Macquarie University, Sydney, (1999 - to present), Adjunct Professor, Fuller Theological Seminary (2002 - present), and Academic Associate, School of Theology, Charles Sturt University (2007 - to present)

Professor Banks' research interests include the origins of Christianity, the life, work and legacy of C. S. Lewis, theological dimensions of leadership, the marketplace and cinema, new expressions of church life, the spirituality of everyday life, and the early history of Christianity in China.

Dr Mark Evans

Department of Music

Mark Evans completed a doctorate in contemporary Christian music in 2002. He is co-editor of Perfect Beat: The Pacific Journal of Research into Contemporary Music and Popular Culture, and has published articles on a range of topics, including: the use of sound in the 'Matrix' films; copyright; CD-Rom; Christian music; rock journalism; and country music in Australia. He is also a pianist and has recorded and performed in various contemporary styles

Dr Christopher Forbes

Department of Ancient History

Dr Chris Forbes is a Senior Lecturer in Ancient History, and Deputy Chairman of the Society for the Study of Early Christianity. His fields of research and teaching focus on New Testament history, Alexander the Great and Hellenistic history, Graeco-Roman History of Ideas and the intersection of early Christianity and Graeco-Roman culture.
